The Los Angeles Lakers are a professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. They play in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in NBA history, having won 17 NBA championships, which is the second-most in league history behind the Boston Celtics. The team was founded in 1947 as the Minneapolis Lakers, and moved to Los Angeles in 1960. The Lakers have a long-standing rivalry with the Boston Celtics, and more recently with the Los Angeles Clippers. Some of the team’s notable players have included Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James. The team is currently owned by Jeanie Buss and is coached by Frank Vogel.
